Here are two great things about the Chili Cookoff:

First, for just $1 you can taste and enjoy all the chili entries from LOCC and the community.  We even have hot dogs and drinks for a very minimal charge.  While you are tasting, enjoy a night of music from our fabulous band, the “Hot Chili Peppers”!!  Then grab a ballot and vote for your favorite chili and enter your name for the doorprizes.  Sounds like fun!  But wait, there’s more…

Second, enter your own chili!  For just a $5 entry fee, there are several chances to win one of the prizes awarded at the end of the evening. First we have the People’s Choice awards.  1st, 2nd, and 3rd place receive trophies.  Then there is the Firemen’s Finest awards.  The firemen come and we cheer them on as they taste all the chili and thank them for the work they do.  1st, 2nd, and 3rd place not only receive trophies, but a cash prize as well!!
But I think the all-round favorite award is left for the entry that earns the title of “Hottest Non-Lethal” chili!  This trophy has often gone to the same person…ask around and don’t taste theirs first or you won’t be able to taste anything else all night!!
